Overview

Bowel resection may be indicated for:

  • Blockage of the intestine (intestinal obstruction) due to scar tissue or tumors
  • Bleeding, due to diverticulosis or arteriovenous malformations
  • Injuries
  • Cancer
  • Precancerous polyps
  • Familial polyposis
  • Infection, due to diverticulitis
