Spleen removal - series—Indications



Guidelines for splenectomy include:

  • congenital or acquired hemolytic anemia
  • idiopathic thrombocytopenia
  • trauma to the spleen
  • lymphoma, leukemia, Hodgkin's disease
  • portal hypertension and hypersplenism
  • hereditary spherocytosis
