Eat Real Food Pyramid
Overview
The basis for a healthy diet includes whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, eggs, beans, nuts, seeds, dairy, and whole grains. The Eat Real Food Pyramid is a visual guide to help you see which foods to include in your diet. The newest guide encourages eating minimally processed whole foods that are naturally high in nutrients. This includes healthy proteins from both plants and animals, dairy foods without added sugars, a variety of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and small amounts of healthy fats. It discourages consuming highly processed foods, such as packaged snacks, sugary drinks and other foods with added sugars, and frozen dinners.
