Uterine prolapse

Uterine prolapse

Overview

Uterine prolapse is when the uterus drops down into the vaginal area. If the muscles, ligaments, and other structures that hold the uterus in the pelvis are weak or stretched, the uterus can drop into the vaginal canal (prolapse). Uterine prolapse is more common in women who have had one or more vaginal births.
